Cloud Terminal
Sited on I-95, at the entrance to both the Philadelphia International Airport and the city of Philadelphia, the Cloud Terminal blends the road and the air to produce a horticultural gateway to both the airport and the city. The project articulates the car's journey above, within, and below discrete clouds of vegetation, giving cars a taste of the air, and amplifying the existing experience into a memorable and engaging journey. The design is first experienced from highway ramps and car windows, and is continued into the terminals through person-scaled container installations. A future pedestrian walkway anticipates PHL's planned transportation center, extending the on-foot experience to the horticultural cloudscape outside.
